What is active retrieval?
Active retrieval is a study method where you are actively retrieving information from memory.
Activities like practice exams and flash cards and the most common and most effective forms of active retrieval!
Active retrieval (or recalling information from memory) stands in contrast to passive learning strategies like re-reading your textbook, or re-watching video lectures.
These passive strategies are much less effective and do not result in long term durable memory.
